+Long ago, shortly after the [[Asterian Empire]] was settling into it's current form, the Everdells were a much more pleasant land, populated by a hardy and independent folk.  Then in the third century IE, some unnamed horror from the Divine Era awakened, and within a week, the populace was wiped out.  The Empire and the Dwarves of [[Thralls Gate Hall]] acted in united purpose, and the creature was defeated, but not without cost: the Dragonslaying Sword of Gondor the Magnificent and its fifth bearer were never seen again.  The exact nature of the threat has been lost to Imperial memory.  The Dwarves may remember, but won't discuss it.  The dead do, but share grudgingly, and usually with a terrible price.
