====Duskenvale==== The duskenvale is a sheltered valley in the [[Atan Hills]], somewhere between the tenth and eleventh Watchweyrs. Running east to west, it is roughly ten leagues in length, and as much as three wide. The area is deliberately avoided, as it remains tainted by the stain of the Dakan devil worshipers from back in the Slumbering Era. ===History=== Thousands of years ago, in the early Slumbering Era, "Demon Lord" [[Dakan]] and his followers set up a good sized nation in the [[Atan Hills]], centered around the worship of the **Devil** [[index_of_divine_beings|Ashtoreth]]. For centuries, they were powerful enough that they held off the servants of the increasingly inattentive gods, and the forces of the newly founded [[Elven Principlaities]]. Dakan and his subordinates drenched the land in blood and debauchery until late in the era, when High King Vain the Irreducible united his people into a single, unstoppable force, and permanently suppressed the Dakan people. Legend tells of a ritual that called down all __ten__ of the Celestial Primal Spirits upon the Demon Lord's forces. The Duskenvale, along with several other sites, managed to somehow survive the Elven purge semi-intact. The land itself is tainted by the evils done here, and only slowly has been cleansed by time, one grass-blade width at a time. ===Today=== The Duskenvale endures. Stores told around tribal fires speak of shadowed ruins, pools of living darkness, and profane idols still waiting for worshipers long dead. Travelers that stray too close find their steps leading deeper into the valley no matter what path they choose, and the few survivors are forever changed by the experience.
