A quiet viscounty allied with Verdante, with a surprisingly high population for its size: Halvelings do take up less space than humans, after all. Like those of Tolkein's Shire, the citizens tend to be peaceful, if conservative.

Paratalle's populace is well over 95% Halvelings. Nearly all of the rest are relatively short goblin sub-races. This does mean that there are only a handful of structures in the viscounty that can comfortably accommodate “big folk”. As Halveling communities go, there is an unexpected lack of Wargs.

Parafalle may be a quiet place, but this being a Fantasy world, they're not mundane. Agricultural exports include horseradish and habanero peppers (apparently imported centuries ago from Hazad), also meat and shell products from the local breed of three foot giant land crab.

• Bounds: The area between the Castella River and the twenty-five foot hedge paralleling it a mile and a half inland. The residents are considered “odd” and “unconventional” by the bulk of the population.
• Tallerun: The central watercourse for the Viscounty. Thoroughly tamed, with heavy amounts of irrigation.
• Tallerun Crossing: Paratalle's one trade town on the Trade Road. Probably contains most of the Big Folk scaled structures in the region. Also most of the non-halvelings.
