Salentino
Salentino is a town in the Asterian Empire in the Eastern Sors region, located eighteen miles west of the city of Overgard. On the main road between West Rivel and Overgard, the town is known for mass production of the (unremarkable) wines commonly consumed in the city, and an Imperial Road Guard posting.
History
Up until a century ago, under the Rivans, Salentino was primarily known for pork production, and the general fertility of its soil. After the Sorland takeover, that changed, and the new Count decided that his path to fortune and acceptance would be by slaking the new regime's thirst for wine. So far, his family has achieved adequacy, but it will clearly be generations before the vines are developed enough to qualify as “good”.
Population
Salentino supports a population a bit over five hundred, most of whom are human. Most of the non-humans are affiliated with the Road Guard post.
