Twilight of Empires

A small kingdom in the [north-eastern asteria|Lost Territories]], occupying over eighty miles of the fertile Verd river valley, and a good stretch of the adjacent Camwood forest. This includes a somewhat ambitious extension to the Old Trade Road, and the town of Riverseat.

Formerly the Duchy of Verdante, now a small kingdom. The current king's great grandfather foresaw the eventual fate of the border territories, and formally seceded from the Asterian Empire, taking his subordinate lords with him. It is strongly implied in local histories that the regional governor was all to happy to be no longer responsible for the place. Tales also say that the governor wasn't responsible for anything else in short order, as this was used by his rivals to demonstrate his incompetence. Since then, Verdante has been one of the cornerstone powers of the area.

The fertility gods blessed Verdante, and agriculture is king. This is shown both by the incredible yields of the farms, and the situation of major temples dedicated to Golden Sheaf, Vines and Groves, the Nurturing Earth Mother. and Flowing Waters. Verdante imports metals, lime (for Dwarfpour), and Imperial luxury goods.

• Callis: Current king of Verdante. Ambitious, but focused on expanding his territory east, into the unclaimed forest, rather than absorbing his neighbors. His mother was responsible for claiming Riverseat
• Poro Porone: King's Champion and a veteran Divine Champion of the Pugilist for most of her 130 years. Poro is a Halveling woman, standing at a commanding 3'5“, who quite enjoys putting idiots who underestimate her in their place. Twenty years ago she defeated the demi-wyrm Slathis single-handedly.
