Beavedere
Overview
Beavedere is a large community of selkies at the southern edge of the Fallow Marches high lake country. it has been on this site for several centuries, but does not date back to the Elven abandonment of the region. Caswalt, the current headman, is a canny leader and clever businessman, and is fully aware that his people's prosperity depends on the continued traffic on the Old Trade Road.
To this end, the folk of Beavedere have have been engaged in the construction of a permanent causeway towards their brethren in Muskshire, forty leagues away at the headwaters of Norrun River.
Location
Beavedere is located at the headwaters of the Gonglin River, approximately thirty miles upstream of Daernyss Keep. North of this point, the hills of the Camwood largely flatten out, and the countless unnamed streams of the area have been turned into ponds and lakes through the industry of untold numbers of beavers.
Population
A full 70% of the population of Beavedere proper are selkies, anthropomorphic otter-folk. The bulk of the rest are divided between humans and Halvelings, with a smattering of most other temperate acclimated races. Over a thousand individuals dwell in the main town, with close to 500 scattered in affiliated tiny villages nearby.
Economy
Beavedere's primary industries are fishing, trapping, and hunting, followed by providing trade-route services for travelers. The bulk of their more exotic animal products are purchased by merchants bound for the Uruk Mandarinate.
