Great EastFyre Desert
The dry, rocky, and largely unpleasant center of the the northern continent. Much like Earth's Gobi, the EastFyre exists because it is much too far inland to see much if any precipitation. The desert is bounded on the west by the Starfallen Wastes and the Tikume Plains, to the south by the lands of the Mongrel Clans, and to the north by the mysterious Crestfallen Sea region.
Climate
Very dry. Blisteringly hot in the daytime, frigidly cold at night.
Geology
Dust, rocks, rocky hills, mesas, uncharted mountain ranges, and one known volcano. The great western powers have never put much effort into studying the region, beyond cataloging some of the more interesting monsters that dwell here. Pretty much every “desert fiction” trope you could ask for, except large expanses of sand.
Ecology
Small, hardy animals, and even tougher monsters. The plants are scrubby, tough, and extremely stingy with their water.
People
People aren't always sensible, so there are some lining in this region. From small communities to rumored underground cities, the folk of the desert are as tough and intractable as the rocks and animals with which they live. Traders and explorers from the Kring Plains, Sandshimmer and Dawnstar tribesfolk largely, have an uneasy relationship with these folk.
Places of Interest
- Blackspire: A massive active volcano down near Mongrel territory. It has been putting a black column of smoke into the sky for as long as anyone can remember. Every few centuries the top blows off the mountain, and large rocks fall on somebody.
- First Hall: Also known as Stone Father Hall. The legendary mountain where the Stone Father and the Maker god forged the Dwarven race. There is also no credible proof it survived the Slumbering Age as a physical location.
