Hisilómë of Ravensdeep, Mercenary's Guild representative of Newhaven, former Guild Master of Asteria City, the Blade of Shadows. Hisilómë is a …veteran Elf, clearly not old, but experienced, and a bit tired. He oversaw the Blackstone Company's activities within the Empire, and when Thorbrand invited him to join the founding expedition, he considered his (frankly unhappy) situation carefully, and stated it would take three yeas for him to tidy up his current situation. By the time he made it to the Fallow Marches, the guild had welcomed a new Master, seen the tragic and entirely natural demise of half the oversight council, and the Imperial prosecution of the infamous and seemingly untouchable Blood Dagger Company.
Ravensdeep is a Night Elf community in the southern empire, near the western bounds of the Altun Shan Mountains, completely unrelated to House Nogrog. Lacking any apparent talent for magic, Hisilómë took up the sword, found his hometown limiting, and took his blade on the road. For the next century, the Blade of Shadows was one of the better renown mercenaries and duelists. Eventually he became bored of stabbing people for honor and profit, and settled into a mentorship role within the Guild. Over time, that developed into a leadership role, one that had long grown stale by the time of Thorbrand's offer.
Hisilómë today remains a master swordsman, administrator, and educator. He is comfortably relaxed in his current position in teaching young rowdies to use their energies productively and directing them usefully. He has a stockpile of interesting and practically interesting equipment to offer as incentives to his charges locked up in the Guild office, and a surprising amount of documentation about monsters, history, and the current state of the world.
- Fuinur-nehtar: Hisilómë's black blade. More a jian than a longsword, this weapon's primary and most overt and obnoxious ability is to suddenly start existing whenever, and wherever its master needs it. It is also lightweight, superbly sharp, frustratingly durable, and capable of touching things that are normally untouchable. It is not entirely clear if Hisilómë's exotic weapon skills require this particular blade or not.
- The Blood Blade: A heavy dagger of some coppery colored metal that formerly belonged to the captain of the Blood Dagger Company. Hisilómë keeps it on his person for day to day purposes, and has claimed that he is “rehabilitating” the weapon. The weapon is known to be vampiric, restoring the wielder's strength at the cost of his opponent's vital fluids. It also can be used to inscribe scarification art upon living flesh, without having to wound the subject first.
- Band of the Modest Marshal: A reward from a former Imperial prince. This ring is a symbol of military authority, allowing Hisilómë to take command of any unit up to division strength if he sees the need. It will also project that authority, both socially and emotionally, on command. It also has a variety of other, minor effects that keep Hisilómë looking professional, healthy, and (don't laugh) respectable.
