Twilight of Empires

The unnatural barrier to eastward expansion on the part of the Mongrel Clans. Some time in the Degenerate Era, a massive war took place here between two fanatical groups whose armies numbered in the tens of thousands. They all died, and to outside observers, they are all still here, still fighting. The dead brook no interference, and treat all intruders as The Enemy.

The Elves have no records on who these people were, what languages they spoke, or why they were fighting. Every generation or two, western temples will send pilgrims out to try to lay at rest a few of the dead here.

They never return.
