Ungoliant: General term of Elven origin referring to any spider larger than a Halveling or a good sized dog. Once they get to the size of a Satyr, they invariably start hunting people, and ones the size of small houses start to talk to their victims. The tale of High King Regis I and the Ungol-Mother is quite epic, but may cause nightmares in small children.
Ungoliant, Crystal: A variety of giant spider found only in the Starfallen Wastes. The main body is about the size of a donkey, and they are actively sought by a brotherhood of hunters based out of several villages on the Wastes' edge: the crystal comprising them is Halite, and this is the primary source of salt in the Fallow Marches, Crystal ungoliant venom is corrosive, and chlorine based. It is assumed that the creatures hole up in a network of caverns in bad weather, with access to subterranean salt deposits.
