Name: Chen Pai Sheng
Age: 58
Race: Uruk
Residence: Xuǎnzé Village.
Chen is village elder and matriarch of the Uruk refugees living in Xuǎnzé. A no-nonsense woman with an iron will, she led her extended family from their original village in the Uruk Mandarinate to the Fallow marches fifteen years ago. She is quite vocal about the reasons for their immigration: the local magistrate proclaimed that the coloration of the family's prize plum crop was “too dark”, and unless they wanted to suffer Imperial penalties, they would need to be removed and replanted by the following spring. No amount of arguing that the painting in his reference book might have faded with time could dissuade him. So they left, bringing with them carefully wrapped bales of their most promising saplings.
In her youth, before she married, Chen served as a dancer and guard in a holy temple, and mastered a flashy, if effective, form of Kung Fu. her husband, Dao, did not survive the journey. He sent the family on ahead an used his magic skills to stop a sizable bandit group that was pursuing them. To this day, the Kring nomads refer to their new circular lake as “Dao's Last Stand”.
