Sister Maria is the latest of a line of women dedicated to the service of the Goddess of Mercy. She was born in Newhaven, and took over the town temple a few years ago, shortly before her mother passed away. She appears content with her life, and puts no effort into changing the status quo.
Maria's faith, and the power of her patron goddess, run strong within her. The divine power she wields is strong, both for healing and protection: the light of the Temple Crystal is true Jewel Light. Just keep in mind hers is the goddess of Mercy, not Healing, or the Nurturing Earth Mother. If you've been ripped nearly in half by an enraged boar, your two options are Final Rest (peacefully go on to the afterlife), and Last Day (You get 24 hours of normal function to get your affairs in order).
Most days of the week Maria can be found teaching the children of Newhaven the basics of reading, writing, and number, either in the temple, or at the Old Theater Ruins when the weather is nice. Her usual companions are her assistant Iop, acolyte of the Herd God, and Gephart a Shoushou possessed short bow.
