Garlick was born and grew up in Whiteholt, a former district of the Shogunate up at the north end of the Fallow Marches. Whiteholt was poorly developed at the best of times, and by the time Gar came of age, his prospects looked pretty grim. When Erlich and his expedition came through heading south, he signed up without hesitation.
Garlick is the area’s top “woodsy feller”, well versed in hunting, trapping, finding rare herbs, and the general lay of the land. He is respected as a wilderness guide and the person to send out for emergency medical components.
As he approaches fifty, Gar is seriously considering retiring from field work, and focusing on raising his herb garden and his grandchildren: that boar last month was smarter than both his trap and his apprentice, leaving him with several cracked ribs and a broken arm. Sister Maria patched him up just fine, but he clearly isn't getting any younger.
