Garv's Wharf

Overview

One of the smaller of the Lakemen Villages (population less than 200), but one of the more prosperous thanks to the Woodhurst road. The inhabitants are a goblin sub-race, looking very much like anthropomorphic schnauzers. Garv himself lived and died about five generations back, and his descendants have been thriving here ever since.

Economy

Primarily the village is supported by fishing: the bounty of the Lake of Dreams is legendary. The locals tend to indulge in kitchen gardens, goatherding, raising hemp, and frequently send their older children to gather the bounty of the Camwood. The fisherfolk are also fairly fortunate at recovering artifacts form the Lake.

Twice a year, the neighboring communities, all the way north to the town of Eorl's Point, put together a caravan of goods to bring south to Woodhurst and Newhaven. Weeks later it returns with worked goods, news, and beer. Garv's Wharf, thanks to location, gets some of the best pickings of the exchange.

Locations of Note

  • Berryfields: A berry farm and B&B about one day away from town by caravan wagon.
  • Onerous Tower: A ruined mage's tower that predates the village founding. Legend says the mage could see the future through dreams. As far from Garv's Wharf as it is, the tower is not casually visited by the locals.

NPCs of Note

  • Bel: Ged's grandson. A sturdy lad, competent at fishing and sailing. He once beat a bear to death with an oar.
  • Cloven: Bandit leader, dark magus. Deceased.
  • Fen: Bandit's other Wolven. More stable?
  • Garm: Wolven greatswordsman of the Death Goat tribe. Unstable. REALLY unstable. Deceased.
  • Ged: Current headman of Garv's Wharf.
  • Eunice Givboedi: Village witch. Attractive true goblin in her early 20s. Herb lore, spirit mastery, bone setting.
